What to Pack for a Ski Trip
The holiday season is over but winter is most definitely still upon us… which means it’s time to embrace the wintry weather with a ski trip! In this post, I’m sharing what to pack for a ski trip.
Because I’m a mediocre skier at best, this post is focused on effortless après-ski (a fancy way to refer to the activities that take place after skiing!) attire and outfit ideas rather than on hardcore ski gear.
That being said, my ski jacket, snow pants, gloves and neck gaiter are all from North Face; my base layers and socks are from Hot Chillys; and my skis, boots, poles, helmet, and goggles are all from a local ski exchange. I definitely recommend Googling “ski exchange near me” or “ski swap near me” to find high quality secondhand gear for reasonable prices! You can also of course rent equipment (skis, boots, poles, helmets, sometimes goggles) at the ski resort.
Also, adjust your luggage based on what gear you’re planning to bring and if you’re driving or flying! If you’re just going for the vibes (which is totally okay!) and not partaking in the skiing, the packing list below is perfect. If you are partaking in the skiing, then a few adjustments need to be made. For a driving trip, throw your skis and equipment in the car and, in addition to your carry-on, bring a weekender bag like this one to carry all of your snow gear. For a flying trip, rent your skis and equipment at the resort and opt for bigger luggage like this one that will fit your snow gear in it too.

Après-Ski Outfit Ideas
For a Travel Day:
T-Shirt | Leggings | Coat | Boots | Carry-On | Earrings
Whether you’re at the start or the end of your trip, this is the perfect travel look. When you’re traveling to cold weather destinations, it’s always important to try to wear your bulkiest coat and boots to save room in your luggage! Plus, pairing a puffer coat with a simple long sleeve t-shirt will prevent you from overheating during your travels.
For Dinner in Town:
Sweater | Jeans | Coat | Booties | Bag | Earrings
There is nothing more quintessentially wintry than a fair isle sweater, and this one from Varley is as chic as it is cozy. A great pair of jeans, minimalist accessories, and statement earrings instantly elevate a puffer coat… which by the way is virtually always socially acceptable to wear on a ski trip no matter what your après-ski plans are!
For the Hot Tub:
Bathing Suit | Hoodie | Sweatpants | Boots | Hat
If I’m totally honest, to me, the absolute best part of a ski trip is hitting the hot tub after a long day out on the slopes. It always feels so well-deserved and is the perfect way to relax and gear up for the next day. This two-toned one-piece suit gives me 90s model-off-duty vibes, and it goes perfectly with the cozy cream beanie. And, of course, you have to pair the look with a matching sweatsuit and winter boots to keep you warm when you head back to the chalet!
For Ice Skating:
T-Shirt | Leggings | Coat | Boots | Scarf | Hat | Gloves
Whether you’re the kind of girl who can’t get enough of winter activities, or you’re the kind who’s on the ski trip mostly for the vibes… there are always other outdoor activities to do rather than just skiing or snowboarding! This look is perfect for twirling (or gingerly shuffling) around an ice skating rink. Leggings fit perfectly into ice skates, and this oversized scarf will keep you cozy and warm.
For Drinks at the Lodge:
T-Shirt | Jeans | Fleece | Booties | Bag | Earrings | Scarf
Another ski trip highlight… a well-deserved, warming glass of red wine after a day out in the fresh mountain air! Black leather accessories make this look feel polished and ready for the evening, while the retro-inspired fleece and cozy scarf absolutely scream après-ski.
For Shopping in Town:
Sweater | Leggings | Coat | Booties | Sunglasses | Hat | Gloves
This is the ultimate look to wear while strolling around the shops in a mountain town! If you’re going to be walking around outside a lot, the puffer coat, beanie, and gloves are essential. Pair with your chic sweater, sleek but practical leather boots, and a go-to pair of sunglasses to instantly feel more elevated.
